Downtown Pentwater was bustling Saturday as wine tasters visited one art gallery after another as part of the Corks & Canvas fundraiser for the Andre Bosse Center. The event was part of a two-weekend-long Winterfest in Oceana County.

Two hundred people took part in the tour and helped the child advocacy organization bring in $3,500 to help operate its Hart and Ludington offices.

LUDINGTON CENTER REOPENS

Ludington's Andre Bosse Kids House opened at 8 this morning after being closed since late last year. Director Bill Burd said today the center will be contacting agencies it works with, such as the Department of Human Services.

"We are now available if anyone wants to stop in," Burd said. "I am glad to have it open again. I felt bad closing it."

Burd, formerly president of the board, is now volunteering as the director. The child advocacy center, which offers supervised visitation, does forensic interviews of children and helps in any way it can to stop child abuse and neglect, went  through a financial hardship at the end of the year and closed. The agency's Hart center reopened in January. Burd said the Pentwater wine tasting fundraiser went well, as did a dance held by the Shelby Optimist Club. The events brought in some needed funding for the centers.
