Emergency Shelter

Often times a call to the help line is followed by the immediate need for safe housing for the survivor and their children.

The COVE shelter is the only shelter for those experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault in Lake, Mason and Oceana counties—a region with a population of more than 67,000.

Beyond housing, Shelter Staff and volunteers:

Provide protection and safe living accommodations.

Assist residents with transportation to medical, legal, employment and other appointments.

Provide food and personal care items for  residents

Provide a supportive environment to empower residents, thereby helping them to begin new, independent lives free of violence.

Strengthening Our Communities

By providing a variety of services, including everything from shelter and other basic needs to legal advocacy and support sessions, COVE can assist an individual or persons with children who may face many challenges simultaneously.  By addressing all of these  related issues, the individual and family are strengthened and able to build a brighter future - thereby strengthening our communities.

COVE also works pro-actively in the community to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault by offering outreach programs including:

Educational presentations on domestic violence and sexual assault before church, business or classroom groups.

Educational presentations on teen dating violence.

Educational presentations on workplace violence.

Special Events to increase public awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Working with regional media to help increase public awareness and understanding of this societal issue.
